ENSEMBLES
Marching Band
The Marching Band at Forney High School the largest student organization in Forney ISD with over 250 students involved. The Marching Band consists of students from all three concert ensembles and includes freshman through senior classifications, as well as the award winning Forney High School Colorguard. Marching Band begins with a Skills Camp in May, followed by summer band during the months of July-August, which all participants are require to attend. Once school starts the Marching Band rehearses Mondays after school and Tuesday-Friday mornings. The Marching Band performs at halftime of all football games and competes throughout the fall in local contests, Band of America Championships and UIL events.
Wind Ensemble

The Wind Ensemble features the finest musicians in the Forney band program. The Wind Ensemble meets during 1st period and is made up of students from all grade levels. The Wind Ensemble performs the finest wind literature and continues the development of refined, professional skills. The Wind Ensemble will perform many concerts throughout the school year and during the month of April is a participant in the UIL Concert and Sightreading Contest. Members of this ensemble study with our talented private lesson teaching staff. Additionally, these students participate in Solo and Ensemble contest and the TMEA All Region process.
Symphonic Band

The Symphonic Band is one of three concert bands in the Forney band program. The Symphonic Band meets during 2nd period and is made up of students from all grade levels. The Symphonic Band focuses on refining instrument playing skills and performing quality music literature of a higher difficulty level. The Symphonic Band will perform many concerts throughout the school year and during the month of April is a participant in the UIL Concert and Sightreading Contest. Members of this ensemble study with our talented private lesson teaching staff. Additionally, these students participate in Solo and Ensemble contest and the TMEA All Region process.
Concert Band

Concert Band is one of three concert bands in the Forney band program. The Concert Band begins meets during 3rd period and is made up of students from all grade levels. The Concert Band focuses on developing and refining instrument playing skills and performing quality music literature. The Concert Band will perform many concerts throughout the school year and during the month of April is a participant in the UIL Concert and Sightreading Contest. Members of this ensemble are highly encouraged to study with our talented private lesson teaching staff. Additionally, these students participate in Solo and Ensemble contest and may participate in the TMEA All Region process.
Black Jack Swing Orchestra
Conductor: Cody Newman
The Black Jack Swing Orchestra is Forney High School’s Jazz Band and is an extension of the band program that meets during the Spring Semester. The ensemble consists of students who are members of the band program. Entrance into the Jazz Band requires an audition and is made up of traditional jazz instruments including: saxophone, trumpet, trombone, guitar, piano, bass, drum set and other instruments as needed. The Jazz Band performs numerous concerts throughout the year.
Percussion
Director: Riley Warren
Forney High School Percussion is made up of approximately 30 members who participate fully in all aspects of the Forney High School Band Program. The ensemble consists of 3 separate performing groups which all members participate in: the Forney HS Drumline, the Forney HS Percussion Ensemble, and the Forney HS Indoor Drumline. In the fall, the drumline competes at all marching band contests, as well as 3 independent drumline contests, including the North Texas Drumline Contest, hosted by Forney ISD. During the spring, percussionists are split up into 3 ability-based bands, where they prepare percussion ensemble literature and perform at the annual Night of Percussion concert, as well as several local contests including the North Texas Percussion Festival, hosted by Forney ISD. Also in the spring semester, students participate as members of the indoor drumline, which rehearses in the evenings and competes in the local DFW indoor drumline circuit, NTCA.
Colorguard
Director: Casey Snead
The Forney Colorguard is a dynamic and vitally important part of the band. They add artistry and beauty to the marching show each fall and dazzle audiences throughout the state through the winter and spring while competing in local NTCA and WGI events. Colorguard auditions occur each spring and are open to all students at Forney High School, grades 9-12. Be a part of a life changing organization!
